NSPCC Charity Fundraising Event
Venue: Stowell Park, Gloucestershire - September 2006
Gorilla has a long history of work with the NSPCC on a variety of fundraising events. On this occasion we found ourselves at an outdoor "posh car boot sale" in the glorious surroundings of Stowell Park. Lord and Lady Vestey's Estate played host to Royalty, Landed Gentry and celebrities drawing a record crowd of over 2000 bargain hunters. A folk band entertained the shoppers and as they hunted through pieces including Prince Charles' rocking horse and a pair of vintage slippers. Gorilla supplied all the refreshments from early morning teas to midday tipples, with Pimms and lemonade going down a treat in the warm September afternoon. This, coupled with the tireless commitment of the committee members made the day a roaring success with our contribution helping to set another record and raise over £50,000.
Canary Wharf Summer Screens
Venue: Canada Park Square, Canary Wharf, July - September 2006
In conjunction with the BBC Gorilla provided the official Summer Screens Bar at Canary Wharf Canada Square Park. Centrally located amongst the banking district, Canada Park plays host to many of the cultural events in the summer events calendar. Events included screenings of Wimbledon, Formula One, and Royal Ascot finishing with the British Open golf tournament. The popular sporting occasions were dwarfed by the Royal Opera House Relays and Summer Galas which saw thirsty crowds of over 5000 drawn to the park.
As well as catering for these main events, the Budweiser sponsored Gorilla bar proved very popular with Canary Wharf residents and workers offering them daily refreshment in a pleasant setting for their lunchtime meetings and after work gatherings.
Credit Suisse JDFR Charity Event
Venue: Greenwhich Park, London - September 2006
The Junior Diabetes Fun Run (JDFR) was sponsored by Credit Suisse, and Gorilla was proud to help them in such a worthy cause. They required a marquee for all their runners to relax in after their race and some sustenance and drinks to keep them refreshed. Gorilla provided Credit Suisse with an all-inclusive enclosure at the JDFR charity run. With the summer still going strong the thirsty fun runners were treated to a gourmet BBQ and a Non-alcoholic cocktail bar together with relaxing furniture for the tired joggers.
Credit Suisse's expectations were exceeded and their marquee was the envy of all the other participants.
Heath Reid & NSPCC/ De La Soul
Venue: The Ball Room, Nottingham Town Hall 2003
Gorilla was delighted to follow up the success of the Heath Reid launch party by organising one of the grandest balls ever seen in Nottingham. An evening that combined the city's young and driven with a classic black tie event in the most breathtaking venue the city could offer. The innovative partnership of NSPCC and De La Soul created the perfect buzz. De La Soul's work with abused and underprivileged children is renowned, yet overshadowed by their multi platinum selling, ground breaking music.
Gorilla designed a dazzling programme for this event, following a red carpet entrance guests were treated to a champagne reception and string quartet. The evening progressed with a delicious seated banquet complemented by the finest wines and cocktails.
The evening's entertainment consisted of an eclectic mix of headlining acts, including a funk and jazz band, prominent UK DJ's, and the grand finale - a live performance by De La Soul. The event was a huge success, and raised thousands of pounds for the NSPCC as well as creating sensational promotion for Heath Reid & People Ltd.
Heath Reid & Warhol
Venue: Main Gallery, Nottingham Castle 2002
Heath Reid & People Ltd, a Nottingham based lifestyle Management Company first approached Gorilla to arrange the company launch party in 2002. From the first meeting with Directors Toby Reid and Thomas Heath it was clear that Gorilla would be expected to design the entire concept including the theme, location and even sourcing sponsorship.
Having located the perfect setting at Nottingham Castle, Gorilla united 'Heath Reid & People' with the internationally acclaimed Andy Warhol art exhibition, creating the title for the project 'Heath Reid & Warhol' in the process.
The next step was to secure a sponsorship deal from a strong premium drinks brand. Absolut vodka had commissioned Warhol to create an advert in 1985, and with a little dose of Gorilla's trademark negotiation skill, a fantastic package was secured.
The Heath Reid & Warhol event was the perfect launch pad for Heath Reid & People, the company that provides members with a what's on service to local events, and organises exclusive evenings. Absolut cocktails and canapés provided by Gorilla with the perfect atmosphere created by Watermelon Music proved a total success.
